Presenta Microsoft tableta Surface y Windows Mobile 8
Quizá fue la forma en que la anunció y llevo a cabo, o el secreto que había detrás de una convocatoria tan repentina. Pero hacía tiempo que no había tal expectación por una presentación como la que realizo Microsoft en días pasados para presentar su nueva serie de computadoras portátiles tipo tableta llamada SURFACE.
Aunque el mismo fabricante se refirió a sus nuevos equipos como una familia nueva de PCs que correrán Windows 8, estas son en realidad tabletas con la funcionalidad de una PCs. Los dos modelos presentados hoy al público han sido diseñados por empleados de Microsoft, lo que representa su entrada a este tan competido mercado. La introducción de la linea, realizada por el CEO de Microsoft Steve Ballmer, y a la que fueron invitados un selecto grupo de medios especializados, mantuvo al mundo tecnológico en expectativa. Nadie sabía que se presentaría, muchos pensaban que sería algo relacionado con Xbox y su nueva iniciativa de Smart- Glass.
En cierta forma, Microsoft presento su propio producto, su propio vidrio inteligente, una tableta con la firma de la empresa. Los modelos presentados son básicamente, un modelo de entrada corriendo procesadores ARM con Windows RT, y una con procesadores de tercera generación de Intel corriendo Windows 8 Pro. No se realizaron muchas demostraciones en vivo de las capacidades de ejecución, sino mas bien la presentación se centro en las facultades estéticas y de diseño de la nueva tableta, la cual se centra en el software que estará corriendo.
El cuerpo de la tableta es de metal, un material llamada VaporMg basado en magnesio, con la pantalla de Gorilla Glass 2.0, e incluye como parte de su cuerpo un soporte para poderla ubicar verticalmente, en una posición mas natural de trabajo. Complementando el diseño de las tabletas, Microsoft presentó una cubierta “Touch Cover” de apenas 3 mm de ancho, que además incluye un teclado. Esta cubierta por si sola dejo excelente impresión en el publico que atendió la presentación.
Sin dar muchos detalles de capacidades, Microsoft anuncio la disponibilidad de estos dos modelos en unos 3 meses, tampoco dio detalles de los precios que portarían, sólo se limitaron a decir que “serian competitivos”.
